| To
complete the design process, we built prototypes of the optimized
design. We then tested the prototypes in third party dynamic
testing laboratories. The CF-1000 rack was subjected to various
vibration forces in all three directions through a wide range
of frequencies. Accelerometers (sensors to measure vibration)
were installed both on the rack and components to measure
the dynamic response of the rack at different shelf and component
levels as shown in Figure 5 and 6. Figure 7 shows the first
shelf measured vibration from 10 to 2000 Hz when the rack
was subjected to 0.2 g force. The plot clearly indicates that
the induced vibration is drastically reduced up to 150 Hz
and virtually eliminated at higher frequencies. Figure 8 shows
the measured vibration on all shelves and components for the
same test. The test results correlated closely with the FEA
computer simulation results, confirming the validity of the
design approach and the final optimized shape. |

The
CF-1000 audio/video rack is constructed with the state of
the carbon fiber composites, the best material for dissipating
unwanted vibration in an audio/video reproduction system.
Using computer simulation (FEA), the design was optimized
to damp vibration over a wide range of frequencies in all
shelves, thereby delivering the highest performance audio/video
system. The CF-1000 superior performance was verified in closely
monitored laboratory testing.
A patent application for the CF-1000
and CF-2000 has been filed.
